Research- Favorite Film Title Sequence Analysis
My favourite film is Zombieland starring Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg. The type of title sequence we see is very slow moving images eventually smashing all things in sight. The order of titles we see are:
- Production Companies
- Actors
- Film name
- Casting by
- Costume designer
- Music by
- Editing by
- Production designer
- Director of photography
- Executive Producers
- Produced by
- Written by
- Director
This is relatively the order we see during the opening sequence of the movie, starting with most important Production company ending with the director being seen last.
Take a look. Enjoy!

Attack the Block
Camera
In the opening scene we see the woman as she is crossing the road the camera is positioned at a low angle looking up at her showing her significance and as she approaches the other side of the road the camera angle changes and is then at a high angle and there is a craning shot which is possibly showing that she is in danger.
Also there is a use of wide shot as she is walking down the side road letting the audience gain an understanding of the woman's surroundings. There is also a Long shot of the group of boys as she approaches them showing that she is going to have some sort of interaction with them.
In this title sequence we see an Over the Shoulder shot when one of the youths try to rob her showing that there is a conversation between the woman and the thief. This is a point in the scene that allows the audience to gain an understanding of what is happening.
Editing
The editing used in this scene is Jump cut when the woman is in the Alley and as the firework goes off it cuts to a scene of her being startled by the sound as she turns around to check her surroundings

Editing
The editing used in this scene is Jump cut when the woman is in the Alley and as the firework goes off it cuts to a scene of her being startled by the sound as she turns around to check her surroundings

There is also a use of shot reverse shot to show that there was a conversation taking place which with this editing technique lead to employ a Over the Shoulder Shot.
Sound
In the title sequence there are many types of sounds used. Firstly, there is a use of synchronous sound when the film starts with the camera looking into the sky on a dark night supported by sci-fi music. Thus created a gloomy and mysterious mood for the audience.
Also there is Foley sound used as she is walking down the Alley we hear her footsteps and it gets louder as she moves, it is used to create the suspense that something tragic may happen to her and ask there is a use of diagetic sound as we hear fireworks and people in the background speaking as the woman walks through the market.
Mise En Scene
The setting of the film is in London as it shows an underground station as it starts to let the audience know where it is set.
The props that are used are a Mobile phone which the woman is using to speak on, A bicycle and a knife which the thief threatens the woman with.
The woman in this scene is dressed casually whilst the group of boys are dressed in hooded tracksuits.

In the background we see flashbacks showing scenes from the previous movies in the sequel building up to the current one that is going to be played. Also the Background Music is the official soundtrack for the film.
